I-10 ExpressLanes Extension Project
Metro has a plan to make it easier to get around, with projects to reduce traffic congestion. The I-10 ExpressLanes Extension Project can improve traffic flow and provide additional travel options in LA County.
Overview
Location: San Gabriel Valley
Phase: Environmental Review
Type: Less Traffic
Forecasted Opening: N/A
Caltrans and Metro are evaluating alternatives to convert existing high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes to dynamically priced, high-occupancy toll (HOT) lanes, also called ExpressLanes, or add a second HOV lane in both directions on Interstate 10 (I-10) from the current ExpressLanes end point at I-605 to the Los Angeles/San Bernardino County line.
Status
The project is in the environmental phase with the Environmental Document anticipated for public release in late 2024 which will include a public comment period and public hearings to solicit input.
This phase will encompass two components: the Project Report and the Environmental Document. Metro and Caltrans are developing a Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR)/Environmental Assessment (EA) in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
A Project Report, Concept of Operations and a Traffic & Revenue Study are also being prepared.
