Metro’s Board of Directors guides the agency’s priorities, projects and activities, and includes 13 members who represent various areas throughout LA County.

Advisory Committees

Accessibility Advisory Committee

Metro’s Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC) provides input on Metro accessibility for riders with disabilities.  (AAC) meets monthly. Please call 213.922.6919 for information.

Metro Policy Advisory Council

The Metro Policy Advisory Council (PAC) meets quarterly and reviews, comments and provides input on the draft Measure M Master Guidelines (Guidelines), the Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP), and possibly other work plans and policy areas that the Metro Board may request. Public Liability / Property Damage (PL/PD) Claims Committee

The PL/PD Claims Committee was established July 27, 2000 by Resolution of the Metro’s Board of Directors to review and approve settlement recommendations in excess of $50,000. The resolution delegated the PL/PD Claims Committee authority to finally settle any claims brought before it where the present value of the settlement does not exceed $200,000. A claim settlement with a value exceeding $200,000 will be reviewed and approved by the PL/PD Claims Committee, and thereafter must be presented to the Metro Board of Directors for final approval. PL/PD meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month if there is a pending claim requiring approval.

Public Safety Advisory Committee (PSAC)

PSAC works with Metro’s System Security and Law Enforcement, Office of the CEO, Office of Civil Rights, Office for Equity and Race, Communications Department and Office of Customer Experience to develop a community-based approach to public safety on the transit system.

Technical Advisory Committee

The committee provides technical assistance to Metro by reviewing and evaluating the various transportation proposals and alternatives within LA County. TAC Bylaws | TAC Meetings

• Bus Operations Subcommittee
  Under the authority of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority hereinafter called Metro, the Bus Operations Subcommittee, also referred to as BOS, shall be consulted on issues and will provide technical input/assistance to Metro by reviewing and evaluating the various transportation policies, operating issues, and transportation financing programs in Los Angeles County. BOS shall review, comment upon and make recommendations on such matters as referred to it by Metro.
• Local Transit Systems Subcommittee
  Provides technical input on issues affecting local transportation systems including fixed route circulation, commuter services, paratransit, transportation demand management and rail feeder services. The LTSS meets the last Thursday of the month at 1:30pm.
• Streets & Freeways Subcommittee
  The Streets and Freeways Subcommittee is a technical subcommittee of Metro’s Technical Advisory Committee (TAC). Members provide assistance to Metro by reviewing and evaluating various transportation policies, issues and transportation funding programs in Los Angeles County as they pertain to.
• Transportation Demand Management/Air Quality Subcommittee
  Provides technical input on TDM and air quality issues. Meets every other month from 10-12pm.

Transportation Business Advisory Council (TBAC)

TBAC is comprised of professional business associations representing an array of industries and trades. TBAC advocates for small business owners to have increased access to Metro contracting opportunities. Meetings are held the first Thursday of every month.

Independent Taxpayer Oversight Committees (ITOC)

Measure M Independent Taxpayer Oversight Committee

The Measure M ITOC provides an enhanced level of accountability for expenditures of sales tax revenues made under the Measure M Expenditure Plan.

Measure R Independent Taxpayer Oversight Committee

The Measure R ITOC monitors and ensures that all tax measure revenue is spent for transportation purposes as specified in the ordinance.

Propositions A and C Independent Citizens’ Advisory and Oversight Committee

The Propositions A and C committee monitors and ensures that all tax measure revenue is spent for transportation purposes as specified in the ordinance.

Office of the Inspector General (OIG)

The Office of the Inspector General  is dedicated to assisting the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) meet its mission for the continuous improvement of an efficient and effective transportation system for Los Angeles County. The OIG reports to the Metro Board of Directors and keeps the Metro Office of the CEO and management informed about issues affecting Metro programs, operations, and opportunities for improvement.

The OIG conducts investigations and audits to promote the efficiency and effectiveness of Metro programs and operations.

Service Councils

Regional Service Councils

Metro’s service area is organized into five geographic regions; each has a nine-member Service Council appointed by the Metro Board that meets monthly. Service Councils advise on projects, programs, and bus service in their regions: Gateway Cities, San Fernando Valley, San Gabriel Valley, South Bay, Westside/Central.
